Conference : "Applications and understanding bias in the AI Era"

HEAD Law School, and in particular the students of HEAD’s Digital Technology Law and Intellectual Property Program, are honored to receive Dr Catherine Kreatsoulas for an outstanding lecture on Artificial Intelligence.
Dr Kreatsoulas is an interdisciplinary health research methodologist whose research focuses on developing methods to address knowledge gaps and biases in clinical health sciences. 

Questions this interactive lecture will seek to explore:

  • What is artificial intelligence (AI)? What are some of the hypes and fears?
  • What is machine learning (ML) and what are some disciplines within ML?
  • What are some applications of AI currently instituted in the legal and health space?
  • How can bias infiltrate AI algorithms?
  • How can legislation address bias in AI algorithms?
  • Fast forward: What will the future look like in a world with a growing reliance on AI?
     

Dr Catherine Kreatsoulas

Dr. Catherine Kreatsoulas attained Master and Doctorate degrees in Health Research Methodology from McMaster University. Her research focuses on developing methods to address knowledge gaps and biases in clinical health sciences. Her controversial work has been published in high impact medical journals, receiving widespread international media attention.

She is currently an Instructor at the Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health, a Research Affiliate at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto.
